11th Annual Big River Steampunk Festival in Historic Hannibal Missouri. Dates: Friday-Monday, August 29th - September 1st. This four day festival takes place all across the city of Historic Hannibal over the Labor Day Weekend. It features live entertainment on several stages, a Steampunk parade (Saturday), several costume contests, demonstrations, "Parasol Duels," Scavenger hunt, make & takes, and much more! Hannibal, Missouri is located about 2 hours north of Downtown St. Louis. This historic city is the boyhood home of the famous author, Mark Twain. Located along the Mississippi River, visitors can experience many of the same adventures Mark Twain had as a boy, as well as some of those that Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer had, too! Cruise on a riverboat, visit the Mark Twain Museum and Twain sites, explore the cave Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher got lost in. Hannibal also has wonderful shopping in Historic Downtown. Many annual events and festivals are held in Hannibal throughout the year.
Directions: From St. Louis: Take I-70 or I-64 west, to Highway 61 north to Hannibal. OR take the scenic route along the Mississippi River - Highway 79, nicknamed "The Little Dixie Highway" and enjoy the historic towns of Clarksville and Louisiana on the way to Hannibal.
