Winter Rendezvous at Fort de Chartres. This festival weekend features colorful clothing, hand-made crafts, period music and delicious food with re-enactors depicting soldiers, trappers, traders and Native Americans demonstrating frontier life from 1700 to 1820. Fort de Chartres State Historic Site can be visited year-round. The grounds are open from sunrise to sunset. The Museum and display buildings are typically open Wednesday - Sunday, 10am - 4pm. Admission is FREE, but donations are appreciated. The Fort also holds several events throughout the year, including the Fort de Chartres Rendezvous held in June, the Fort de Chartres French & Indian War Encampment in October, and the Fort de Chartres Winter Rendezvous & Woodswalk in November.
