Winter Jewels: An Enchanted Celebration at the Butterfly House in Faust Park. Visit a fairy garden, fierce dragons and noble knights at the Castle, and discover the tropical jewel-toned butterflies in the Conservatory and in the Gnome Forest. Dates: November 6th through December 30th. Hours are 10am-4pm, Tuesdays-Sunday. Closed on Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day. The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House, located in Faust Park, is an extension of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Visitors are able to walk through the Butterfly Conservatory which houses more than a thousand free flight tropical butterflies of 60 species from around the world and watch a new butterfly emerge from one of hundreds of chrysalises! The Conservatory is kept warm for a perfect butterfly habitat. Visitors should dress appropriately! An admission fee is charged. Children 3 and under are free. Educational classes and events are available throughout the year. Butterfly House hours are 9am-4pm, Tuesday through Saturday. (FREE on the first Tuesday of every month, between 10am - 12pm, for St. Louis County and City residents with proof of residency.)
