Keeper Chats at the World Bird Sanctuary
Date: Aug 23, 2020 | Time: 9:00 am
Keeper Chats at the World Bird Sanctuary happen every Saturday and Sunday mornings, year round, at 9am-11am. Join one of the Naturalists for a fun and informative walk as they do the morning feeding of the birds down the Display Line. Learn something new about each individual bird, where they come from, and what they eat. Meet opposite the Wildlife Hospital or catch up with the walk, no reservations needed. Admission is FREE!
The World Bird Sanctuary is located within Lone Elk County Park in Valley Park, Missouri on 305 acres of forested land. The Sanctuary was founded in 1977 by Ornithologist Walter C. Crawford, Jr. who saw a need for a facility for the preservation and study of birds of prey. The Sanctuary has a wildlife hospital, educational programs, nature trails, picnic facilities, live animal presentations in their amphitheater and live birds on display. It is free to enter the World Bird Sanctuary which is open 8am to 5pm every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Free parking, too. There are some programs which charge a fee, call for availability. Special events and open houses are held throughout the year.
Directions: Take I-44 exit #272 to the Valley Park/Highway 141. Go north on 141 and make an immediate exit at the North Outer Road. Go west on North Outer Road for 2.6 miles to the World Bird Sanctuary's entrance that will be on the right. If you get to the Lone Elk Park entrance, you have gone too far.
