Scorpions, Spiders and Owls... Oh My! at the Butterfly House in Faust Park. Visitors will enjoy releasing a butterfly into the conservatory, see the nocturnal Owl Butterfly in action, sip cider, eat donuts, and see spiders and scorpions in the Creep Crawly Cave. The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House, located in Faust Park, is an extension of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Visitors are able to walk through the Butterfly Conservatory which houses more than a thousand free flight tropical butterflies of 60 species from around the world and watch a new butterfly emerge from one of hundreds of chrysalises! The Conservatory is kept warm for a perfect butterfly habitat. Visitors should dress appropriately! An admission fee is charged. Children 3 and under are free. Educational classes and events are available throughout the year. Butterfly House hours are 9am-4pm, Tuesday through Saturday. (FREE on the first Tuesday of every month, between 10am - 12pm, for St. Louis County and City residents with proof of residency.)
