Owl Prowls at the World Bird Sanctuary are evenings spent with a WBS naturalist who will introduce you to live owls and their unique calls which is then followed by an easy night hike around the Sanctuary grounds to find wild Barred Owls and Great Horned Owls. Owl Prowls happen November through March on various evenings throughout each month at 7pm. Events sell out FAST! See website for more info and to purchase tickets.

The World Bird Sanctuary is located within Lone Elk County Park in Valley Park, Missouri on 305 acres of forested land. The Sanctuary was founded in 1977 by Ornithologist Walter C. Crawford, Jr. who saw a need for a facility for the preservation and study of birds of prey. The Sanctuary has a wildlife hospital, educational programs, nature trails, picnic facilities, live animal presentations in their amphitheater and live birds on display. It is $8 per car to enter the World Bird Sanctuary which is open 8am to 5pm every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are some programs which charge a fee, call for availability. Special events and open houses are held throughout the year.
Directions: Take I-44 exit #272 to the Valley Park/Highway 141. Go north on 141 and make an immediate exit at the North Outer Road. Go west on North Outer Road for 2.6 miles to the World Bird Sanctuary's entrance that will be on the right. If you get to the Lone Elk Park entrance, you have gone too far.
