Enjoy Eagle Days at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary (formerly at the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge) to welcome the return of Bald Eagles to the St. Louis area. Spotting scopes and knowledgeable volunteers from The World Bird Sanctuary will be available to help you locate the eagles. Two "Meet & Greet" events at 10:45am & 1pm to get up close and personal with a bald eagle. A full replica of an eagle's nest for visitors to actually get inside is always a favorite. The Audubon Center at Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary is located in West Alton, MO. The Sanctuary is designated as an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society. It encompasses a total of 3700 acres with over 8.5 miles of trails that wind through prairies, marshes, bottomland forest habitats and feature viewing platforms and bird blinds that give excellent viewing of a variety of birds and other wildlife. The Audubon Center gives a 140 degree view of wildlife through its large windows and high-powered scopes. It hosts many special events throughout the year.
The Audubon Center is open seven days a week from 8am-4pm except Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve and New Years Day. The Sanctuary is open 24 hours a day. Admission is FREE!
