16th Annual Mushroom Festival & Hunt at Pere Marquette Lodge. Enjoy a day of live music, craft vendors, lunch in the Lodge restaurant, local wines and of course, hunting for morel mushrooms! The Pere Marquette Lodge was hand constructed between 1933-1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. The Lodge is built with limestone and huge timber poles of Douglas fir, western and pecky cypress. The focal point of the Lodge is the Great Room with a massive 700-ton stone fireplace and the soaring 50ft vaulted ceilings, and features a hand-crafted, life-size chess set. Other features include a terrace overlooking the Illinois River, an indoor pool, sauna, and hot-tub; a Restaurant and Winery, separate stone cabins and guest rooms, an event space for weddings, businesses, and other events. Located within the 8,000+ acres of Pere Marquette State Park, it is open year-round and offers an unique experience with nature.
