The Old Chain of Rocks Bridge is an Historic Landmark built in 1929 and once carried "The Mother Road," Route 66, across the Mississippi River on its way to the West Coast. Today it has been restored and transformed into the Route 66 Bikeway, a one mile paved trail connecting the St. Louis Riverfront Trail with the MCT Confluence Trail (via the Chain of Rocks Road) on the Illinois side. During the winter months, the Bridge is a popular place for eagle viewing.
Directions: Take Interstate 270 to Exit #34/Riverview Drive and go South .3 miles on Riverview. Entrance to the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge will be on the east side of the street.
